About Us

We have been established since 1964 and are an independently run unit within St Michael and All Angels Infant School. Lyndhurst Pre-School is run by a board of Directors and inspected by Ofsted. Our admission policy promotes equal opportunities and we are open to every child in the local community from 2 years 6 months.

You can find us at the rear of St Michael & All Angels Infant School, Lyndhurst.  Although it remains an independently run unit, the close relationship we have formed with the school has benefited us all, especially the children as they become familiar with much of school life before they make the transition to Reception class.

The Pre-School is a limited Company with charity status, run by a board of Directors.  We rent our facilities from Hampshire County Council.

We are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance and have achieved all three stages of their Reflecting on Quality Accreditation scheme.  By achieving this it shows we demonstrate to parents, professionals and the wider community that the service offered is of a consistently high standard.

We are proud of our Pre-School – come and see for yourself . . .

You are most welcome to visit us, be shown around and see a session in progress. Please call 02380282986 and speak to our Manager or Deputy to arrange this.

Our Pre-School is registered with OFSTED and have achieved OUTSTANDING in our last inspection which was in November 2017.

The reports are available online at https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/16/507969

Under the guidance of our practices we aim to provide the children with the following:

  • a safe, caring and happy place to play
  • staff members who understand them and their families
  • time with staff members who can support and guide them
  • space to move about freely, to run, play and be active
  • other children to play with
  • the space and time to be alone and think
  • stimulating experiences which help them learn
  • staff who recognise the children as individuals
  • the opportunity to investigate, explore and be curious
  • help to develop skills, knowledge and understanding
  • the opportunity to make their own decisions
  • the encouragement to be independent and confident
  • the encouragement to wonder, question and work things out.

You can now find a straightforward explanation of all government childcare support on the new Childcare Choices website: www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.

Childcare Choices brings all the government childcare offers together for the first time, providing a simple way of seeing which schemes are available, with easy next steps to where you can find out more.

Using the website’s Childcare Calculator, you can quickly find out which of the offers are available to you and choose what works best for your family.
